Art with Mrs. Hammons
Students have the opportunity to create art, while learning about the elements of art and the principles of design in a fun way. They also have opportunities to exhibit their art work and enter it in local contests. These contests include the Young Arkansas Artist, Art in Architecture, Central Region and State Art Winners. Every student at JSE attends art class.
Art helps both students and staff by building on and supporting other disciplines. Many lessons are paralleled with other subjects. Students are learning about art while learning in other subjects is being reinforced.
Mrs. Hammons holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Mississippi. She has taught eleven years, with experience in every grade level, K-12. She has taught at Jim Stone Elementary for seven years.
Highlights of 2010-2011 school year: Many art winners in Young Arkansas Artist, Central Region Art Competition and Historic Homes of Conway art competitions. We had two first place winners at the state level from JSE!
